Pre-Season Top 100 College Draft Prospects

This year's college crop is a little thin. The top has a sure fire SS that can hit, a solid back stop, several power arms and a couple power hitting outfielders but none of them project as sure fire stars. This list is slanted towards the players I have seen more and this list will be fluid up to the draft when I post my final big board prior to the draft.

Welcome to MLB Prospect Guide

MLBprospectguide.com is the new home for MiLB Prospects. MiLB Prospects.com was taken so I'm doing a name change with the conversion from blogspot to a .com.

I will be doing a re-branding with a new layout and logo soon but the info here will stay here. I plan on releasing my new Top 2000, with a new twist, shortly after the new site comes online.

Check back to see what changes are in store.

MiLB Prospects Report for 2012

Here is a PDF that combines a lot of my information into one place. It's almost 300 pages and each person's information is on 3 sheets. It's not the easiest to read but it's a lot of cool information in one place.

Legend:
Name-Name
LG-MLB or MiLB player. If a player is still considered a prospect, he is denoted as MiLB. This is not 100%. I did as good as I could.
POS, POS #2- A players position and their alternate position.
Team- Team
Round-Country- The round a player was chosen in or the country they were signed out of.
Drafted Year- Year drafted or the year signed.
Bats, throws, height, weight - as stated
Age - age as of 7-21-12

MLB% - The percent chance a player will make it to the majors. Once a player is to 80% they are essentially a replacement level player, just need an opportunity.
2012 skills- The level that their skills could or should play at by the end of 2012.
2011 skills- The level that their skills were at at the end of 2011.
Skill Ceiling- The level that their skills could play at if they were able to replicate it at the highest level that their potential allows them.
AVG, OBP, SLG, SB- Projected slash line that their current skill level projects.

Contact, Power, Speed: 20-80 scale based on their current ability.
Stamina- Above 50 most likely a starter, below, most likely a reliever.
Control, Dominance, Feel- 20-80 scale based on their current ability.

The next group is fastball, curveball, slider, changeup, cutter, splitter and knuckleball. The first group is the 20-80 grade on each players pitch. The next group is the velocity in which they pitch at.

Ravel Santana

Baseball America is very high on him and I have him pretty low on my list, so I took a look at him. He has big power and solid speed. The closest comp to him using all his skills was Abner Abreu. Not promising, but I liked him a lot at that point. Here is a list of others that put up similar numbers in the GCL since 2006. Nothing stellar but some solid prospects. If I had to guess looking at this group, he would be a below average MLB starter. My system predicts he could be in High A by the end of 2012 and has all-star potential. Go figure.
