My 2009 draft

I continued with my same pattern as last season, although I didn't think this draft had the depth the 2008 one did. I had the 2nd overall pick in the draft I traded away Jarrod Washburn, Reed Johnson, Carl Pavano, Doug Davis, Tony Gwynn Jr. and in an unusual move, Lars Anderson. I received the #3 overall pick, a 2nd round, 6th and 11th round pick for him. I also traded my #4 overall pick(as i was the 4th worst team in the league due to my selloff) and a 2nd round pick for the #2 overall pick and a high 3rd round pick. I really wanted to get Ackley and I got him with the #2 overall pick. At #3, I had a hard time deciding between Donovan Tate, Tyler Matzek and Grant Green. I even though about Bobby Borchering and Matt Davidson here, but it was just too high for them, but I really believe in their bats. I passed on Matzek because I didn't think he'd sign and I hadn't seen Tate enough to be sold on his potential. I also thought he might not sign and I'd loose his rights. Well on to the rest...

I was excited to get Max Stassi in the 2nd round. I had him as the 8th best prospect in the draft. Then I got Kentrail Davis, who I had as the 13th best prospect in the draft. I liked Walla and thought his bat would play, even if the rest of the tools aren't there. His first season hasn't shown it yet. Lemahieu isn't hitting much either. Volz, Stillings, Tuttle, Guilmet, Brooks and Kirk are all pitchers that have a high ceiling but all have a high likelihood to bust. Jonathan Singleton has a huge upside and I was really happy when he signed. Neil Medchill had a good season last year, but is starting slowly this season. I was hoping Eric Decker would sign but..oh well. Nelfi Zapata, Justin Bour, Alibay Barkley and Aaron Baker are all 1B who have power potential. Renny Parthemore is one to watch though and I am hopeful he will turn into a top prospect.
